Vodafone Germany has rolled out gigabit cable speeds for an additional 500,000 homes in the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Wurttemberg and Hesse. The new deployments have increased its 1Gbps cable footprint to 23 million households across all 16 states, and the firm is aiming to supply two thirds of all Germans with gigabit connections by 2022 through the rollout of DOCSIS 3.1 technology. Vodafone adds that more than one million of its 8.2 million cable customers have already opted for its gigabit broadband service.
