Turkcell Q2 revenue jumps 23.5%

Turkish telecoms group Turkcell reported ‘robust financial performance despite the impact of the pandemic’ in Q2 2021. Quarterly group revenues grew by 23.5% year-on-year to TRY8.548 billion (USD1.002 billion), supported by Turkcell Turkey’s strong ARPU and subscriber net additions, contributions from international operations and higher equipment revenues backed by increased digital channels sales. EBITDA for April-June 2021 climbed 22.7% y-o-y to TRY3.466 billion and operating profit (EBIT) improved by 25.5% to TRY1.723 billion. Three-month net income grew by an even higher y-o-y rate, up 30.6% to TRY1.113 billion.

In operational highlights, Turkcell Turkey’s total fixed/mobile subscriber base witnessed 617,000 quarterly net additions (the highest Q2 net addition performance since 2Q17), taking the year-to-date total Turkish net additions to 1.3 million. 501,000 quarterly mobile post-paid net additions drove the post-paid subscriber base percentage up to 66.2% at end-June 2021, while the operator also achieved 28,000 Q2 pre-paid net adds in Turkey, and recorded 13.7% y-o-y mobile ARPU growth.
