MTN Group 6M21 revenues up 2.1% to ZAR81.9bn

MTN Group’s service revenues rose by 2.1% to ZAR81.9 billion (USD5.6 billion) in the six months ended 30 June 2021, up from ZAR80.2 billion in 6M20. In constant currency terms, MTN saw strong service revenue growth from South Africa (9.3%), Nigeria (23.8%) and Ghana (25.5%). In operational terms, the group reported a total of 277.3 million subscribers across 21 markets, down by 2.3 million on an annualised basis.

MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita commented: ‘Notwithstanding the many challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, MTN delivered a solid H1, exceeding most of the Group’s medium-term targets through sustained commercial momentum as we executed on our Ambition 2025 strategy.’
