The unexpected development was reported by PC Mag, which quotes a company spokesperson as saying: ‘We recently launched a pilot programme in select Manhattan residential buildings to deliver home internet over fibre-optic lines, using a local fibre provider’s fibre-optic network.’

According to Pilot Fiber’s website, the B2B player currently serves more than 2,000 businesses and 200,000 end users. Its network currently serves 600 buildings in the New York Metro Area.
