WOM signs up 1m subscribers since launch

9 Aug 2021

Partners Telecom Colombia, which provides mobile services under the brand name WOM, has signed up one million subscribers since its commercial launch in April. The operator’s CEO Chris Bannister made the announcement in an interview with Semana, adding that WOM initially expected to reach the customer milestone towards the end of the year. Of the current one million subscribers, 56% are pre-paid users and 44% post-paid. At launch, the cellco’s 4G network was available in 120 municipalities, but LTE network coverage is now expected to reach 475 municipalities by the end of 2021, covering 80% of the population, equivalent to 39.5 million Colombians. In addition, during the next three years the firm is aiming to increase the number of LTE antennas to 8,000 across all municipalities.
