Dutch fibre/cable network operating group DELTA Fiber Nederland has secured EUR2 billion (USD2.4 billion) in financing to support a planned rollout of XGS-PON fibre enabling access speeds up to 10Gbps and expand its network footprint to two million premises by the end of 2025, predominantly in smaller towns and villages throughout the Netherlands. The company notes that it will soon announce new subscription packages with upgraded speeds, adding that XGS-PON will in turn evolve to 25G-PON technology supporting access speeds up to 25Gbps.
The new financing has been secured by the underwriters ABN AMRO, ING, SEB, Santander and Deutsche Bank, who will place the loan with a consortium of national and international banks. The fixed financing framework is EUR1.45 billion, which can be expanded with an additional EUR600 million.
DELTA Fiber’s network currently passes around 900,000 addresses in the Netherlands, and is expected to reach one million premises by the end of 2021.
