United Arab Emirates (UAE) fixed and mobile operator Du has reported a 7% year-on-year increase in revenues for the second quarter of the year, to AED2.86 billion (USD777 million) on the back of strong demand for 5G handsets and broadband services. Net profit was up 11.4% at AED240 million, with EBITDA rising 7.3% to AED1.13 billion. Capital expenditure jumped 27.5% to AED649 million as the firm continues its 5G network rollout. Du’s mobile customer base climbed 2.3% in twelve months to stand at 6.6 million at the end of June 2021, while it added 31,000 fixed broadband subscriptions over the year to take the total to 279,000.
