Jio parent books net income of INR36.5bn for first quarter

Jio Platforms, the telecom services wing of Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and parent company of full-service provider Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio) has net profit of INR36.5 billion (USD490 million) for the three months to end-June 2021, up 4.0% quarter-on-quarter and increase of 44.9% year-on-year. Revenue from operations for the period was INR189.5 billion, an increase of 9.8% y-o-y, whilst EBITDA grew by 21.3% to INR88.9 billion over the same period. The operator reported net fixed and mobile customer additions of 14.3 million for the quarter, with ARPU of INR138.4. Jio notes that its fixed broadband subscriber base reached 3.0 million during the period under review.
