Verizon Q2 revenues up 10.9% to USD33.8bn; 20% of Consumer base now using 5G

US telecoms giant Verizon Communications has reported total operating revenues of USD33.764 billion for the three months ended 30 June 2021, up 10.9% from USD30.447 billion on an annualised basis. Meanwhile, second quarter operating income was reported at USD8.165 billion, up from USD7.361 billion in 2Q20. Finally, net income for 2Q21 was reported at USD5.949 billion, up from USD4.839 billion year-on-year.

In operational terms, Verizon’s Consumer unit closed out 30 June 2021 with 94.589 million wireless subscribers, 6.783 million broadband customers and 3.165 million fixed voice users. The telco’s Business unit, meanwhile, claimed 26.740 million wireless subscribers and 480,000 broadband customers.

Verizon notes that its second quarter wireless net additions drove ‘5G phone adoption to approximately 20% of Consumer wireless phone customers’, suggesting the telco now serves in the region of 18.918 million 5G users.
