Telia reports slight increase in sales in Q2

21 Jul 2021

Telia Company of Sweden has reported a 0.5% year-on-year increase in net sales for the second quarter of 2021 to SEK21.88 billion (USD2.51 billion). On a like-for-like basis, ignoring exchange rate effects and disposals/acquisitions, sales were up 4.9%, driven by the TV and Media unit in Sweden, as well as the group’s Baltic operations. Adjusted EBITDA fell 0.1% on a reported basis to SEK7.73 billion, but rose 1.9% in like-for-like terms. Net income for the quarter stood at SEK8.10 billion, reversing a loss of SEK2.03 billion a year before due to gains in 2021 from the sale of Telia Carrier and an impairment in 2020 relating to Turkcell Holding.

The group claimed 17.32 million mobile customers in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia at the end of June 2021, up from 16.73 million a year earlier. Fixed broadband subscriptions fell slightly from 2.91 million to 2.90 million over the same period.
