Grande Communications to acquire Harris Broadband

Texan ISP Grande Communications – a division of Astound Broadband, the sixth largest cable operator in the US – has announced the acquisition of Harris Broadband, which provides of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connectivity in parts of Central Texas. Upon closing, this acquisition will add over 6,000 customers, 12,500 homes passed and 150 miles of fibre to Grande’s operations in Texas. The company expects the transaction to close later this year.

TeleGeography notes that Astound Broadband is the holding company that owns RCN Telecom Services, Grande Communications, Wave Broadband and enTouch Systems. In November 2020 Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Astound from TPG Capital and Patriot Media Management in a deal worth USD8.1 billion; the deal has yet to close.
