A1 Telekom Austria Group has reported total revenues of EUR1.166 billion (USD1.38 billion) for the second quarter of 2021, an increase of 6.4% from EUR1.096 billion in the year-ago period, mainly driven by higher fixed and mobile service revenues, as well as higher equipment revenue growth. Group EBITDA grew by 9.6% from EUR390.1 million in Q2 2020 to EUR427.7 million twelve months later, due to higher service revenues outweighing an increased cost base. Excluding one-off and currency exchange effects as well as restructuring charges, group EBITDA increased by 9.5% year-on-year. Driven by the improved operational performance, A1 Telekom Austria Group reported a 9.8% increase in net profit from EUR113.8 million to EUR125.0 million over the same period.
At 30 June 2021 A1 Telekom Austria Group reported a total of 22.325 million wireless subscribers, an increase of 5.3% year-on-year, as the number of contract customers rose in almost all markets driven by strong growth in M2M subscribers. Growth was also driven by the ongoing strong demand for mobile Wi-Fi routers as well as the continued shift from pre-paid to contract offers. Total wireline RGUs fell by 0.5% y-o-y from 6.105 million to 6.072 million at end-June 2021, as growth in high bandwidth broadband and TV RGUs was outweighed by declining numbers of low bandwidth broadband and fixed voice RGUs.
