Brazilian private equity fund EB Capital has assumed control of Ceara-based Wirelink, TeleSintese reports. The acquired company owns a 35,000km fibre-optic network and the deal consolidates the group’s business interests in the north-east, where it already owns Mob Telecom. As per the report, Wirelink has a presence in 360 cities across 16 states.
TeleGeography notes that EB Capital, which is run by Eduardo Sirotsky Melzer, Fernando Iunes, Luciana Antonini Ribeiro and Pedro Parente, already owns a controlling stake in regional operator Sumicity. The takeover of a 60% stake was agreed in December 2018 and concluded in April 2019. Subsequently, in August 2020, EB acquired a controlling stake in regional B2B operator Mob Telecom.
The TeleSintese report, meanwhile, indicates that EB Capital has also quietly added BR Supply, Loja do Mecanico, ESSA, Enferminas and Vip Br Telecom to its ISP portfolio in recent months.
