Telekom switches off 3G network

6 Jul 2021

Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), switched off its 3G network as planned during the night of 30 June to 1 July 2021, as it focuses on the rollout of faster and more advanced technologies. The 2100MHz frequencies previously used by 3G have been refarmed for LTE and 5G networks and over 20,000 3G UMTS sites have been upgraded. Telekom prepared the changeover for its customers through various measures, with all of its tariffs now including LTE access.
