German telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom (DT) has initiated the sale of its T-Mobile Netherlands subsidiary, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter. The unit is expected to be valued at around EUR4.5 billion (USD5.3 billion), the sources noted. As per the article, the group has sent information on the business to potential bidders, while first-round offers are due to be submitted this month.
The sale has attracted preliminary interest from potential bidders including Apax Partners, Apollo Global Management, BC Partners, Providence Equity Partners and Warburg Pincus, the sources indicated. Deliberations are in the early stages, however, and there is no certainty that any of the suitors will decide to proceed with offers.
