Western Balkans establishes Roam Like Home zone

2 Jul 2021

The regional ‘Roam Like Home’ zone in the Western Balkans came into effect this week, eliminating roaming charges for users travelling between Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. The EC-supported decision was agreed between the nations in 2019, following which roaming charges were gradually decreased across the region until 1 July 2021, when they were eliminated entirely. Notably, the Roam Like Home system policy that has been put in place features appropriate or fair use conditions. With regards to mobile data usage, consumers may not be entitled to use their full data allowance whilst roaming and, as such, regulators and operators across the region have warned customers to consult their tariffs, which will specify how much data they may use whilst roaming.
