PTA adopts a new name, expands regulatory remit

Iceland’s telecoms regulator the Post and Telecom Administration (PTA, or Post-og Fjarskiptastofnun [PFS]) has adopted a new name, the Electronic Communications Office of Iceland (ECOI or Fjarskiptastofa), effective 1 July 2021. In addition, the watchdog is also expanding its regulatory remit to network security, civil protection, telecoms network status analysis and broadband network forecasting.
