1 Jul 2021

The National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) has announced that mobile termination rates (MTRs) will be reduced by almost 8% with effect from 1 July 2021, from EUR0.0076 (USD0.009) to EUR0.0070 per minute, in accordance with the provisions of the EC’s Delegated Regulation (EU) 2021/654 setting a single maximum EU-wide rate. The EC regulation also sets out a future glidepath for MTRs in the coming years, with the rate set to fall to EUR0.0055 per minutes with effect from 1 January 2022, EUR0.0040 on 1 January 2023 and EUR0.0020 from 1 January 2024. The new rate will apply to all mobile operators designated with significant market power in the call termination services market. Fixed termination rates (FTRs), meanwhile, will be reduced from EUR0.00098 to EUR0.00078 with effect from 1 July 2021 and to EUR0.00070 from 1 January 2022.
