TIM expands FiberCop rollout plan

28 Jun 2021

Telecom Italia (TIM) has extended the rollout plan of its FiberCop network co-investment venture to cover almost 1,000 new communities. A report from Mondo Mobile Web says a plan submitted to Italy’s telecoms regulator Agcom outlines the expansion of FiberCop infrastructure to 968 new municipalities, up from the original goal of 1,610. TIM says the rollout is scheduled to be completed by April 2026 and will see it reaching around 80% of users in urban and semi-urban areas with gigabit-capable networks. TIM’s partners in the FiberCop vehicle include fellow Italian telco Fastweb and investment firm KKR.
