Ericsson has been selected by Japanese telcos KDDI (au) and SoftBank Corp to help deploy Japan’s first Multi-Operator Radio Access Network (MORAN). In a press release the Swedish equipment manufacturer claimed that the network sharing solution would bring ‘new, flexible and efficient ways to deploy networks to both communications service providers while keeping both companies’ own operations and management capabilities’. The vendor’s supplied solution supports network sharing on both Time Division Duplex (TDD) and Frequency Division Duplex (FDD), as well as 4G/LTE and 5G New Radio (NR), and consists of a number of Ericsson Radio System products, including RAN Compute (base band), radio and transport, it noted in the release.
