Nokia to accelerate Telenor/Telia joint 5G network rollout in Denmark

18 Jun 2021

Nokia has revealed that it will support the modernisation of the Telia/Telenor shared network in Denmark (operated via their joint venture TT-Netvaerket) following the recent award of 5G-suitable spectrum in the 3.5GHz band, thus accelerating the delivery of 5G services nationwide. The modernisation deal will focus initially on Denmark’s four largest cities before expanding to cover most Danish customers during 2022. It will see Nokia provide its ReefShark SoC (System on Chip) based AirScale 5G RAN portfolio including 5G Massive MIMO antennas to deliver enhanced ultra-fast, low-latency, and high capacity mobile broadband services to both TT-Netvaerket’s consumer and enterprise customers. TT-Netvaerket currently operates a mobile network comprising more than 4,300 sites. Lars Thomsen, CEO of Telenor Denmark, said: ‘With our nationwide network rollout, Danes will experience higher speeds and better coverage in both urban and peri-urban areas. Specifically, the 5G upgrades will mean twice the speeds in densely populated areas and significant improvements across the country.’
