Globe partners PhilTower for NCR, Luzon cell site build

18 Jun 2021

Globe Telecom is partnering local tower company Phil-Tower Consortium (PhilTower) to roll out new cell sites across the National Capital Region (NCR) and Luzon. In a statement yesterday (17 June), the towerco confirmed: ‘Globe is partnering with PhilTower to ramp up its aggressive network rollout in more areas in the NCR and Luzon’, with its president Devid Gubiani noting that the company is ‘introducing new and innovative solutions like the Micro Cell Poles that have a low impact and small footprint with capability to load in radios, battery backup within the pole for network densification’. With Globe aiming to deploy 2,000 new towers this year (note: of which 318 were commissioned in 1Q21), PhilTower is supporting its efforts to improve suburban and rural coverage, contribute to network densification in cities/municipalities ahead of the anticipated widespread adoption of 5G technology, and improve in-building coverage.
