Tele2 runs 5G pilot in Kazan Metro

Tele2 Russia and Nokia have launched a 5G test network covering the Kazan Metro in the Republic of Tatarstan, with services available at all subway stations on the Metro, and passengers with compatible devices able to use mobile internet at peak theoretical speeds of 3.8Gbps by connecting to 5G directly or via Wi-Fi. The 5G pilot zone is open until the end of 2021. Throughout the operation of the test network, Tele2 and Nokia plan to offer passengers and the city new 5G usage cases ‘to ensure the safety of a transport facility, monitor the epidemiological situation and demonstrate AR/VR-based entertainment to Kazan residents.’
