11 Jun 2021

Broadband services provider Sony Network Communications (So-net), a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Mobile Corporation, has announced the rollout of services to Hiroshima and Okayama prefectures in Japan. The ISP said that from 1 June 2021 it began accepting applications in those areas for its NURO Hikari high speed fibre-optic services, which are scheduled to be switched on ‘sequentially from the end of June’.

NURO Hikari was launched back in April 2013 in one metro area and six prefectures in the Kanto region, before being expanded to include Tokai/Kansai (November 2017), Kyushu (March 2019) and Hokkaido (December 2019). Maximum downlink speeds of up to 2Gbps are offered.
