Digicel PNG completes 4G network expansion project

21 May 2021

Mobile network operator (MNO) Digicel PNG has announced the completion of its network expansion project, the Post Courier reports, citing comments made by the cellco’s CEO Colin Stone. According to the executive, with the MNO’s 4G network having only been available to 27% of the population before December last year, following its expansion work the infrastructure now covers 55% of Papua New Guineans.

As noted in TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Digicel PNG switched on its first LTE-capable base stations back in April 2014, initially bringing 4G connectivity to post-paid subscribers in the capital, Port Moresby.
