Romania-based Digi Communications has reported group revenue (excluding intersegment revenue and other income) of EUR340.2 million (USD413.2 million) for the three-month period ended 31 March 2021, an increase of 8.6% from EUR313.2 million in Q1 2020. The group’s adjusted EBITDA (including IFRS 16) totalled EUR122.5 million in the reporting period, up 6.8% from EUR114.7 million twelve months earlier, and total operating expenses increased 10.7% year-on-year to EUR307.6 million, while net profit stood at EUR14.1 million in 1Q21, compared to a net loss of EUR56.0 million in the year-ago period.
In operational terms, the group reported total RGUs increased by 13.2% y-o-y to 18.712 million at 31 March 2021. Romania continues to be the group’s core market, contributing almost 62% of group revenues and 13.133 million RGUs in Q1 2021, followed by Spain (2.83 million RGUs), Hungary (2.48 million) and Italy (268,000). The Romanian operation ended the quarter with 4.87 million pay TV customers (an increase of 15.6% y-o-y), 3.44 million fixed internet RGUs (up 19.7%) and 1.027 million fixed line telephony RGUs (down 4.0%), while its mobile subscriber base grew by 9.2% to 3.796 million.
