Sweden’s Post and Telecom Agency (Post & Telestyrelsen, PTS) has opened a public consultation regarding the award of local 5G licences for industrial and public sector use in fields such as industry, mining, ports, warehousing and hospitals. The proposed concessions will utilise spectrum in the 3720MHz-3800MHz and 24.25GHz-25.1GHz ranges, with the first licensing expected to take place this year. In a statement the regulator said: ‘The conditions aim to enable local applications in a purposeful and robust manner and thereby provide space for innovation and development, as well as contribute to the further rollout of 5G uses in Sweden.’
