Group revenues at Turkcell jumped by 17.5% year-on-year in Q1 2021 to TRY7.827 billion (USD944 million), mainly driven by Turkcell Turkey’s data and digital services revenue growth, a larger subscriber base, as well as increased equipment revenues backed by digital sales channels. Group EBITDA increased by 17.7% y-o-y to EUR3.306 billion in the first three months of the year, while operating profit (EBIT) rose 14.9% to TRY1.651 billion. Quarterly net profit improved by 26.6% y-o-y to TRY1.105 billion mainly on solid operational performance and disciplined financial risk management.
Turkcell noted robust Q1 performance in strategic focus areas, for instance standalone digital services revenues up 27.5% and digital business services revenues up 27.3%. Turkcell Turkey’s total subscriber base saw 705,000 quarterly net additions (‘highest of the past three years’) including 410,000 mobile post-paid, 190,000 pre-paid and 50,000 fibre broadband additions. Mobile ARPU grew 8.7% y-o-y and fixed residential ARPU climbed 11.0%. Digital channels’ share in Turkcell Turkey consumer mobile sales reached 15.7% in 1Q21, up 8.5 percentage points compared to the same period of 2020.
