Ooredoo Kuwait aims to boost 5G FWA with Nokia

4 May 2021

Ooredoo Kuwait has announced it aims to further boost its residential and business 5G fixed-wireless access (FWA) services with the launch of the new Nokia-supplied FastMile 5G Gateway as a premium internet device for consumer and B2B customers. Ooredoo highlights that it is using 5G FWA to extend the reach of high speed broadband to premises not easily connected with direct fibre lines, supporting the company’s aim to significantly increase its fixed broadband customer base across the country.

Ooredoo’s press release says that Nokia’s self-installable 5G FWA gateway incorporates Wi-Fi 6 with self-optimising mesh technology and advanced antenna designs with higher throughput and better coverage resulting in improved customer experience and a lower operational cost. Essa Haider, Director of Network Planning and Design at Ooredoo Kuwait, said: ‘5G FWA is essential for Kuwait’s economic growth and diversification.’
