Huawei could be set to lose its share of a 5G equipment contract with one of its biggest customers in Europe, Telecom Italia (TIM). A report from Reuters, which cites Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, quotes unnamed sources as saying that TIM has written to the Chinese vendor to inform it of its decision. The telco had previously split its 5G rollout between Ericsson, Nokia and Huawei, with the two European suppliers now set to share the contract. It has been alleged that Huawei poses a national security risk due to its links with the Chinese government, but the vendor insists that this is not the case.
