Ukrtelecom’s Q1 revenue rises 14.5%; internet overtakes telephony sales

Ukrainian fixed network operator Ukrtelecom’s total revenue in the first quarter of 2021 amounted to UAH1.8 billion (USD64.1 million), 14.5% more than in Q1 2020. EBITDA reached UAH517 million, up 29% year-on-year, boosting the EBITDA margin by 3.2 percentage points to 28.8%. Revenues from fixed telephony services fell 11.9% to UAH506 million in 1Q21 (including UAH340 million in the consumer segment and UAH166 million from corporate users) while quarterly internet access/data revenues climbed by 9.4% to UAH573 million (including UAH405 million in the residential sector). Ukrtelecom also reported that ‘despite quarantine restrictions and unfavourable weather conditions’ it deployed an additional 1,500km of fibre-optic cables in the first three months of this year.
