Telia reports drop in sales for first quarter

Sweden’s Telia Company has recorded first-quarter revenues of SEK21.81 billion (USD2.56 billion), down 2.7% year-on-year as reported, or unchanged on a like-for-like basis. Service revenues decreased 4.9% (down 2.3% like-for-like) to SEK18.75 billion. Adjusted EBITDA was down 0.4% at SEK7.25 billion, though on a comparable basis there was an increase of 2.2%. Total net income amounted to SEK974 million, down from SEK1.15 billion a year earlier. The outlook for 2021 remains unchanged, with service revenues and adjusted EBITDA to remain flat or register low single digit growth.

CEO Allison Kirkby commented: ‘Across all our markets, we saw increased COVID-19 restrictions, including store closures, versus the prior quarter. Despite this backdrop, we remained relatively resilient.’
