Grupo MASMOVIL has announced that its 5G network now covers more than 200 cities and municipalities across 35 Spanish provinces. New locations covered include the likes of Cordoba, Coruna, Granada, Murcia, Valladolid and Zaragoza.
5G access is available via the group’s Yoigo brand, which was acquired from Telia Company in October 2016. That deal allowed MASMOVIL to transition from an MVNO to an MNO, while the Yoigo name was retained as one of a number of sub-brands.
As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, MASMOVIL became the fourth Spanish operator to launch 5G services in September 2020, when its network went live in 15 locations, including Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Seville and Valencia. The fifth-generation network uses the 3.5GHz band.
