Globe sets ambitious target to deploy 1m new FTTH lines in 2021

19 Apr 2021

In a statement last Friday (16 April), Globe Telecom announced plans to construct a million new fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) lines this year, as part of its PHP70 billion (USD1.45 billion) capital expenditure budget set aside for 2021. Promising to deliver speeds at up to 1Gbps over fibre, the Ayala-led company says it is reaching out to customers still using its legacy copper wire system offering to upgrade them for free, including the supply of a new upgraded modem. Ultimately, Globe’s entire copper network will be upgraded to fibre, it said.
