The Philippines’ new third telco DITO Telecommunity today (16 April) confirmed it has expanded mobile services to 21 more cities, including 18 in Luzon. The newcomer’s statement confirmed the areas now served as follows: Lipa City, Malvar, Santo Tomas and Tanauan (all in Batangas); Silang and Tagaytay City (Cavite); Calamba and Banos (Laguna); Baliuag (Bulacan); Palayan, Santa Rosa, Science City of Munoz, Talavera, Cabanatuan City (Nueva Ecija); Capas, Concepcion, Gerona, Tarlac City (Tarlac); General Santos City (South Cotabato); and Compostela and Cordova (Cebu).
‘We are very excited to announce that in just a few weeks after our commercial launch in Cebu and Davao, more Filipinos can now experience stronger and reliable connectivity with DITO’s Luzon expansion,’ said the company’s chief administration officer Adel Tamano. Furthermore, the mobile operator pointed out that SIM cards are now available in ‘more than 300-partner stores’, and services will also be available ‘very soon’ in three DITO-owned stores in Cebu and Davao. As DITO looks to take on the established might of Globe Telecom and PLDT’s Smart Communications, the new player is trying to entice customers with a plan offering 25GB of data for PHP199 (USD4.11) a month.
