Telenor Norge confirms it now has more than 200,000 5G subscribers

Norwegian mobile network operator (MNO) Telenor Norge has announced that it has signed up more than 200,000 5G subscribers since its commercial launch of the next-generation mobile broadband technology in March last year.

In a press release regarding the customer milestone, the cellco noted that it now has active 5G base stations in locations including: Askvoll, Bergen, Bodo, Elverum, Fornebu, Kongsberg, Kvitfjell, Oslo, Stavanger and Trondheim. Telenor Norge has said it plans to continue developing its infrastructure in these areas during the course of 2021, while new locations which are expected to gain access to 5G for this first time this year include Alesund, Drammen, Fredrikstad, Kristiansand and Tromso. Ultimately, Telenor Norge aims to have extended 5G coverage to all areas where it currently offers 4G connectivity by the end of 2024.
