DITO CME, the holding company which indirectly holds stakes in DITO Telecommunity, released a statement on 12 March 2021 saying the new third telco expects to pay off liabilities and see profitability on its fifth year of operations. In the statement to the local stock exchange, DITO forecast that it will be EBITDA positive by year three and reiterated its end goal to capture 30% of the market – currently dominated by PLDT Inc. and Globe Telecom. Having rolled out commercial services in 15 locations in Visayas and Mindanao on 8 March, DITO has said that it aims to add Metro Manila by May or June this year. During its commercial debut, some 22,748 people signed up, 6,597 of whom ‘have compatible phones and are within the coverage areas,’ it said. The new third telco also plans to introduce fixed broadband services in the next two years, reports ABS-CBN News.
