Full-year 2020 consolidated group revenue at Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) increased by 5.2% year-on-year to RUB494.9 billion (USD6.7 billion), of which Russia accounted for RUB488.5 billion, up 4.6%. 4Q20 revenue improved by 7.4% to RUB133.7 billion, including RUB131.9 billion in Russia, up 6.8%. FY20 group adjusted operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) rose by 1.7% y-o-y to RUB215.2 billion, and annual group net profit increased 13.2% to RUB61.4 billion. Twelve-month cash CAPEX reached RUB96.9 billion, 6.9% higher than the previous year. MTS issued 2021 FY guidance of ‘at least 4% revenue growth, at least 4% OIBDA growth, and cash CAPEX of approximately RUB100 billion-RUB110 billion.’
MTS highlighted that Russian mobile service revenue accelerated to 6.4% growth y-o-y in Q4 2020, reaching RUB87.1 billion – despite headwinds in international roaming revenue due to continued travel restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic – and 230,000 active mobile SIMs were added quarter-on-quarter in Russia, reflecting a recovery in the subscriber base following COVID-19 impacts on guest workers, tourists, and secondary SIM card users. Russian sales of handsets and accessories grew 15.6% y-o-y in Q4 to RUB20.3 billion. In addition, MTS reported strong uptake of services and apps across its expanding digital ecosystem. Pay-TV users increased 44% in 2020 to reach 6.6 million, including users of MTS’ OTT offering for smart TVs and smart devices which more than doubled y-o-y to 2.5 million. The number of consumer broadband subscribers increased 10.3% y-o-y to reach 3.8 million at end-December. MTS IoT saw its number of subscriber devices grow 30% y-o-y in 4Q20, while MTS Cloud & Digital Solutions annual revenues grew by double-digits versus 2019.
