Partners Telecom Colombia (WOM) is poised to conclude its interconnection agreements with Movistar and Tigo in the coming days and is on target to stage its commercial launch in April. The newcomer – which has already interconnected its networks with those of Claro and ETB – has also launched its website (https://www.wom.co) as it prepares to go live. Confirming his company’s compliance, Movistar CEO Fabian Hernandez, commented: ‘Competition will always be beneficial for the market, so we negotiated with [WOM] without the need for the intervention of the Communications Regulatory Commission (CRC). Our message is: welcome. We are here to compete in a straightforward fight.’
As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, on 28 December 2020 the CRC ordered the country’s cellcos to sign interconnection agreements with WOM, with the signing of Resolution 6127 of 2020.
