Ukrtelecom’s internet revenues climb 7% in 2020

Ukrainian fixed network operator Ukrtelecom saw its total annual revenues fall by 2% to UAH6.214 billion (USD220 million) in 2020, although its EBITDA increased by 4.8% to UAH1.698 billion, with the EBITDA margin improving by 1.8 percentage points to 27.3%, Interfax reported. The company’s annual capital investments decreased slightly year-on-year, by 0.5%, to UAH688 million in FY20, while it built around 10,000km of fibre-optic communication lines during the year, extending optical internet coverage to an additional 270,000 households in twelve months.

Ukrtelecom disclosed that it doubled its number of fibre internet subscribers in 2020 to reach 170,000. In total, at the end of the year it served 900,000 residential fixed broadband users and 131,000 B2B broadband users.

Ukrtelecom’s ‘revenue from telecommunications services’ amounted to UAH5.0 billion in FY20, including consumer services (over UAH3.0 billion), B2B services (nearly UAH1.4 billion) and revenue from wholesale services to other operators (exceeding UAH520 million). The operator’s revenue from the provision of internet and data transmission services rose by 7% in 2020 to UAH2.087 billion while fixed line telephony revenue dropped by 15%, to UAH2.174 billion.
