Claro agrees interconnection terms with newcomer WOM

26 Feb 2021

Claro Colombia has confirmed that it has completed the technical implementation required to enable the interconnection of voice, SMS and international long-distance services between its network and that of market newcomer Partners (WOM), ahead of the latter’s planned network launch. La Republica quotes a Claro spokesperson as saying: ‘Competition is always welcome – in compliance with laws and regulations.’ Claro adds that its engineering team has been working on the issue since the end of last year and has now implemented interconnection in five nodes of its mobile network and in seven nodes of its fixed network.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, on 28 December 2020 the Communications Regulatory Commission (Comision de Regulacion de Comunicaciones, CRC) ordered the country’s cellcos to sign interconnection agreements with Resolution 6127 of 2020.
