O2 Slovakia has chosen Ericsson to carry out its 5G network rollout and RAN modernisation. The cellco began trialling 5G technology at a number of sites in Bratislava with several suppliers in October, but has still to announce a commercial launch date. O2 CEO Igor Toth commented: ‘From this moment on, we can fully focus on the plan to expand the availability of a new generation network in Slovakia, which will cover the growing demands of our customers’ data traffic.’ Rival operator Slovak Telekom (ST) launched its own 5G services in mid-December.
