US satellite TV giant DISH Network and infrastructure firm SBA Communications Corporation have announced a new long-term master lease agreement which will provide DISH with access to SBA’s nationwide portfolio of wireless communication sites. Headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, SBA currently owns 32,724 cell towers, of which 16,495 are situated in the US. Dave Mayo, DISH’s EVP of Network Development, commented: ‘With experience spanning more than thirty years, SBA brings a valuable team and portfolio to our infrastructure mix. This agreement provides DISH with access to key real estate that will help advance our rapid 5G network deployment across the US.’

TeleGeography notes that the SBA deal is the latest in a series of agreements that DISH has signed with tower firms as it prepares to undertake a nationwide 5G rollout. DISH has previously inked deals with the likes of Crown Castle (November 2020) and Vertical Bridge, Harmoni Towers, Mobilite, Parallel Infrastructure, Phoenix Tower International (PTI), Tillman Infrastructure, Tower Ventures and Vogue Towers (all February 2021).
