US satellite TV giant DISH Network has announced that it has signed seven new tower agreements which will help to underpin its planned 5G network. The contracts have been signed with Harmoni Towers, Mobilite, Parallel Infrastructure, Phoenix Tower International (PTI), Tillman Infrastructure, Tower Ventures and Vogue Towers, and provide DISH with access to more than 4,000 towers and wireless infrastructure assets coast to coast.
Previously, on 1 February this year DISH unveiled a long-term agreement with Vertical Bridge REIT, gaining access to the tower firm’s extensive portfolio of towers, rooftops, utility transmission structures, billboards, convenience stores and other sites used for wireless infrastructure deployment. Vertical Bridge is the nation’s largest private owner and operator of communications infrastructure with a portfolio of over 300,000 sites spread across all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
TeleGeography notes that DISH’s first notable tower deal was signed with Crown Castle in November 2020. That deal gave DISH access to 20,000 towers. DISH will build a 5G network that will comprise 15,000 cell sites and cover 70% of the US population by June 2023 and has also committed to deploy a core network and infrastructure covering 20% of the population by 14 June 2022.
