TFL embarks on infrastructure works to improve Coral Coast broadband

16 Feb 2021

Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) has begun replacing underground fibre-optic cabling between Deuba and Korolevu as part of a wider plan to improve broadband internet services on the Coral Coast. FijiVillage quotes TFL chief executive Charles Goundar as saying the infrastructure upgrade forms part of a wider FJD180 million (USD88 million) investment in Fiji over the next five years to ensure the country ‘remains at the forefront of ICT’. Phase One kicks off with the 48km Deuba-Korolevu link and will augment its ongoing fibre-to-the-home/building (FTTH/B) rollout which should cover homes and ‘all key business areas in major towns and cities’ by 2024. Goundar pointed out that to date, more than 5,000 homes in Suva and Lautoka are ready to be connected to TFL’s FTTH broadband service.
