As part of its ongoing rollout of 5G technology, PLDT Inc. mobile division Smart Communications says its next generation network now extends to 17 cities and municipalities in Metro Manila (officially known as the National Capital Region [NCR]) and also extends to the cities of Angeles and Mabalacat in Pampanga, Bacoor in Cavite, and Binan and Santa Rosa in Laguna. The company, which launched 5G services in July 2020 and uses carrier aggregation (CA) utilising two frequency bands, is also continuing a nationwide rollout with services being added in Cebu, Boracay, Iloilo and Davao. In December it rolled out its new ‘Signature 5G Plans’.
The company’s president and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio noted: ‘As we ramp up our Smart 5G rollout across Metro Manila and the rest of the country, we bring an even higher level of customer experience in high-definition video, playing esports and using new digital services’.
