UPC acquires three more cable networks

2 Feb 2021

Swiss full-service provider UPC has acquired cable networks in Glarus, Kaltbrunn and Weggis-Vitznau-Gersau, the operator confirmed in a statement yesterday, although the change of ownership took place on 1 January 2021. Following a similar pattern to its infrastructure acquisitions elsewhere, the operator took over the cable networks of local infrastructure providers with which the company had already partnered, namely: Technische Betriebe Glarus (tb.glarus), Fernsehgenossenschaft Kaltbrunn (FGK) and Genossenschaft Antennenanlage Weggis-Vitznau-Gersau (GAWVG). The operator noted that the total of around 13,000 households to which UPC services were previously available via partner networks will continue to be able to benefit from the UPC’s portfolio, which will now be offered from a single source.
