Turk Telekom claims a first with Software Defined Network Enabled Broadband Access

1 Feb 2021

Turk Telekom (TT) has claimed a ‘world first’ by testing Software Defined Network Enabled Broadband Access (SEBA) technology with a group of customers in Turkey, in cooperation with its R&D subsidiary Argela and US-based partner Netsia, reports Hurriyet Daily News. Developed under the umbrella of the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) platform, SEBA is designed to save resources via remote network management of internet distribution devices at homes, buildings, streets and neighbourhoods. SEBA uses software-based cloud computing, working on virtual servers of telecom operators, reducing the cost of hardware infrastructure. TT, Argela and Netsia have thus far carried out IPTV and voice service tests using the technology.
