Cyta launches 5G services to 70% of population

Cypriot mobile operator Cyta (Cytamobile-Vodafone) has launched 5G services capable of providing speeds of 1Gbps. The company advertises population footprint of 70% at launch, with plans to extend the coverage to 98% of the population within twelve months. The new service is available to all individual and business subscribers with compatible handsets at no extra cost. Cyta Chief Executive Officer Andreas Neokleous said: ‘This is only the first step that will unlock the unlimited possibilities offered by the new network, paving the way for innovative technological applications that change the data in key sectors of the economy, such as transport, health, agriculture, environment and education. The 5G network lays the foundations for the upgrading of our lives, the development of businesses, the progress of the economy and the transformation of Cyprus into a digital society with equal opportunities for all.’
