Russia’s leading mobile operator by subscribers Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and UK-based global mobile operator Vodafone Group, have jointly announced the extension of their existing strategic partnership agreement, which will now run until 2023. In the release, the two companies note that the extended agreement will look to build on their ‘successful track record of close collaboration’ to date in the areas of procurement, marketing and network operations. The MTS/Vodafone strategic partnership dates back to 2008. Additionally, under the agreement the pair will embark on a number of joint projects that seek to identify new opportunities ‘to enhance MTS’ business operations, drive technology innovation, and strengthen strategic execution across the consumer and enterprise segments’, as they continue to develop and share best practices in strategically critical areas, such as accelerating digital transformation and ‘speeding up the launch of innovative new products and solutions’. Finally, MTS notes that the agreement also gives it access to Vodafone’s ‘extensive scale and expertise across network and IT management, supply chain and equipment procurement’.
